A Word

2 Timothy 1:6

“For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you.”

For some reason, I cannot seem to wrap my mind around the concept of prayer. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 tells us to, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

What does that even mean? How can you possibly pray without ceasing? However, whenever I ponder the problem, I always come back to one word: ceasing. Obviously, it is possible to, as Colossians 3:17 says, “whatever you do…in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks”. So God wants everything to honor and glorify Him.

The concept is not new, as man’s chief purpose, after being made in the image of God is to glorify God. But when thinking about how you could conceivably pray without ceasing,   constantly giving glory to God, I consider another word: gifts.

We have all been blessed with incredible talents, and I am not just talking about the gifts of the spirit, but things we use to make careers, hobbies, etc. Art, music, drama, dance, history, knowledge, science, math, literature, speaking, interpreting, and on and on. So many things are unique to humanity. We have done and created the craziest things. These are all gifts from God, and it is our job to use those gift to bring glory and honor back to God. Everything we have, the most beautiful gifts, are just that: gifts. We use them in order to release them into the world and bless others. Are we being good stewards of our gifts?

Be blessed today.
