A Factor

Jude 1:20

“But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit.”

Have you ever just needed a break? Everyday seems to repeat itself, monotonous. What is the point of living at all if we just do the same things every day? A song called Car Radio by 21 Pilots describes this exact situation in this way:

“I ponder of something terrifying
‘Cause this time there’s no sound to hide behind
I find over the course of our human existence
One thing consists of consistence
And it’s that we’re all battling fear
Oh dear, I don’t know if we know why we’re here.”

There is nothing that scares me more than the thought of living a life that has no meaning or purpose. These thoughts often fly at us when we are least prepared, when the world is falling about us and throwing lies into our ears like so many strands of silly-string. Why is this the case? Well, God made man and set him in a particular place, with a particular job in mind for him and a plan laid out for Adam to walk in. What is it we fear? We fear the absence of that place, of that particular job. We fear losing the one thing we have been designed to do.

Although all of this sounds rather ominous, this is one of the most glorious realizations you can have! God has a plan for you! If not even a sparrow is lost without God knowing, how much more are you in His eyes? “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” (Matthew 10:29-31)

Fear not, beloved, this is the deciding factor. God has you, if you turn to Him, He will “make your paths straight!” (Proverbs 3:6)
